One of only two weapons occupying Demon’s Souls’ Very Large Swords category, the Dragon Bone Smasher is, as the name implies, a massive weapon forged with the intent of aiding in battle against dragons. With a strength requirement of 30 and B damage scaling in that stat, it’s an excellent mid-to-late game weapon for Strength builds. Ironically enough, it’s not all that useful against the Dragon God due to the puzzle-like design of the fight. Obtainable in area 4-1, as you can see in the above video by YouTube creator Ashen One, you only need to defeat the Phalanx boss from level 1-1 to gain access to this weapon. Then you should play through the second level in each archstone in the same order. You may want to save the challenging Valley of Defilement, the rightmost archstone, for last.

And considering how great the original Demon’s Souls was, the Demon’s Souls remake on PS5 is an easy recommendation. Imagine one of the best and most influential games ever made, but with significantly improved graphics, and that sums up the Demon’s Souls remake perfectly. It’s the PlayStation 5’s first must-have exclusive game, and it should leave fans very excited to see what developer Bluepoint Games decides to work on next.

I tried to get a match to what Bluepoint showed in its asset by choosing the same basic character setup (note the comparison gallery above), but the remake’s design for the helmet and shinguards are tweaked to add more ridges. The interaction with oncoming light is more natural all round though, with reflections playing against the top and right sides where the sun is shining from. Additionally, Bluepoint has completely remade the UI and introduced a more “accessible” view of World and Character tendencies. This is likely a welcome change as telling whether you were in pure black or just before it could be challenging back in the original, but for many the UI may feel somewhat off. It’s hard to describe, but the “You Died” screens are missing “something” and the overall UI seems too clean and lacking the “grunge” look we have come to expect from souls games.

As announced, Demon’s Souls will be released on November 12, 2020, alongside the PS5, making it one of the next-gen console’s launch titles. It was also confirmed that Demon’s Souls will be a PS5 exclusive, which means that it won’t be releasing to the Xbox or even the PS4. During the announcement, Bluepoint Games explained that the reason why the game won’t release to the PS4 is to allow the developers to focus and take full advantage of the technological marvels of the PS5. Making it exclusive to Sony’s next-generation console also allowed developers to include features such as ray-tracing and offer better graphics at a higher framerate.

Magic

With a large health pool of 1325, your character relies a little on stamina. The mage build uses physical, magic, and fire defenses while resisting bleed, poison, and plague. This build setup maximizes damage output by hitting the softcap for all relevant stats. With a light weapon, you can get 700+AR, but it uses stamina to inflict damage.

This is unlocked after defeating the first boss of Boletaria Palace. Players will find conquering the dark, hostile world of Demon’s Souls a challenge, but a highly rewarding one; with deep, satisfying combat, unforgettable enemies and an extraordinary landscape to explore. The Boletarian Palace features a huge stone castle in the heart of the northern kingdom of Boletaria. Hungry soldiers whose souls have been stolen by demons attack trespassers, while nearby terrible dragons have taken roost. One other area that Demon’s Souls obviously benefits by virtue of being on a console with an SSD is a substantial reduction in load times.

More of an emphasis is placed on deliberately studying your opponents and playing defensively until the perfect time for attack presents itself. While magic users and some melee builds will be able to play a bit more aggressively, Demon’s Souls just isn’t designed to support that more active style of combat that has defined modern Soulslike games. This entry may seem like the most obvious improvement, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. The overhaul in assets that was done to Demon’s Souls turns a 2009 title into one of the most beautiful modern games in existence. It really showcases the power behind the PS5 and what it will be capable of in the coming years.

And of course, all kinds of deadly and ruthless enemies and monsters that are thirsty for your blood or better to say, for your soul. You beat the bass, opening another starting point for another area on the Nexus. BluePoint Games has already shown great prowess in remaking games, and with a title like Shadow de Colossus, it has proven to be a studio that has a lot to say. That’s why Sony, as an important launch title for the PlayStation 5 console, has given the Demon’s Souls remake to this manufacturer, and I have to say that this studio really worked great.

Release

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is the next first-party PlayStation title for PC, launching on April 3rd. Bryank75 clarified that PC plans are still in motion, but added that “some of them suck”. In a discussion about some of the greatest and most challenging games of all time, it goes without saying that FromSoftware’s offerings would definitely be a major part of this conversation. However, when talking about the Souls series, most people tend to talk about the Dark Souls trilogy without even mentioning the predecessor that provided the building blocks of the series — Demon’s Souls. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore — Bluepoint Games has done an excellent job of remaking the original Demon’s Souls on the PS3 to allow a new generation of gamers to enjoy this classic.
